Jacjac's Favourite Life-time Movie List

Well, been chilling since 2 days back when my exams are god damn near.

Still, I was busy couch-potato-ing and realized how I missed the old movies I used to watch.

Here's the movie that made me just figure why producers this day are wasting their time producing useless movies :)

14. Battle Royale
Number 10 in my list is "Battle Royale" which is a japanese movie. It's a story about the Japanese having to eliminate the 'bad seeds' of the society in Japan and thus, a chosen class in one of the worst school is chosen to reside on an island. Each student was given a weapon (which ranged from guns and there was even a dustbin lid? :s) and their necks were tied with a detector. Their mission :Kill everyone. There's a catch if they didn't want to kill or run off the island, the detector will detect it and it'll blow their brains out. And if in the end of the period of time given that there was more than one survivor, both dies.

Gruesome yet entertaining with a sudden twist in the end.

13. Thirteen

Landing at no.9 would be the movie "Thirteen". I haven;t heard of this movie till I was in my college days and my Indonesian biatch (that's what we call close friends those days) gave me this movie to watch.

It practically Chicken Soup for Teenagers, only in movie style.

A good way to relate ourselves during our younger wilder days.

And of course, a moral in the end :)

12. Back to the Future
Who hasn't watch this movie man?!?!

This movie is about a guy who went back to his past (somehow contradicting to the word future..haha) and well, tried to save his friend (Doc) who created the car from being shot down (he was shot down when he introduced the car to Michael J. Fox and suddenly some people shot him dead on the spot after that and Michael hopped into the car and went back to year 1955 :p).

And of course, going back so far back, he met his parents and accidentally courted his mother!

Funny of course but very interesting seeing the fact it was really something totally new in the movie industry and of course,

This movie had cutie Michael in it!! :)

11. Interview With the Vampire

If you ask any chick around my age if they saw this movie, and they said "No".. they are either not straight or.. they dont like cute guys!!

This movie is not a double combo but a triple combo of hotness!!

Its basically a story of 3 good looking vampires acted by Brat Pitt, Tom Cruise and Anthonio Banderas!

And of course, you can see Kristen Durst (The heroine in Spiderman) during her younger days (And I seriously meant YOUNGER)

And the story line is ... hmmm hmmm.. ops sorry, forgot the storyline! Was too busy drooling at the hot guys!! Owh forgive me :p

10. Kungfu Hustle
Now we reach the serious top ten of my must see movies. And of course, I am a BIG (SUPER) fan of Stephen Chow. His movies from "Journey to the West" and "God of Cooking" and heck, just almost EVERYTHING he acts in, I've seen it when I was a little kid.

This is one of his latest movie and it still makes me giggle and laugh from his jokes. Really funny and one thumbs up from me!! (actually, i barely give two thumbs up or any thumbs up.. so its a good sign :p)

9. Jawbreaker

Forget "Mean Girls" and all those new-days girly movie and say hello to what set that trend.

Say hellow to no.9, "Jawbreaker".. This movie is so god damn old, I cant seem to find anywhere to download it to re-watch it again and if I ever had my hands on it, I'll so god damn cry and watch it with my girlfriends!!

I was in primary school then but heck, this movie thought me all about being popular and the existence of Queen Bees.

Anyway, the movie is about 3 popular girls trying to suprise another best friend of theirs for her birthday by kidnapping her while she was sleeping. Their plan was to shut her up by stuffing a jaw breaker into her mouth and dumping her into the trunk and then surprise her later after she has the fright of her life.

However, things took a turn when their friend accidentally choke on the jawbreaker and dies. Trying to cover things up, they replace their friend with a geek (who saw them kill their bestfriend) and transforms this geek to a hot chick.

Many issues arises as one another get jealous of the geek's rising popularity and of course the cops are still finding the murderer of their best friend. How will it all end you wonder?

It's up to you to google it yourself or heck download it (if you do, please share it with me..haha)

Awesome chick-flick to be watched with your girlfriends. And er, please dont end up killing one another in the end, k? :)

8. Lord of The Rings
LOTR 1,2,3... is my precioussssssss....................... AWESOME scenery if you hate the storyline and Gollum RAWKS!! :p

A journey of a hobbit aka dwarf to destroy a ring of all evil and darkness and during his journey, he is challenged by err.. enemies :p

Indeed, too many to name and too long to write about, this movie is best for people who loves RPG games (Imagine World of Warcraft and the sword of a thousand truths as the sacred ring) and graphics, and of course, if you're interested in crazy thin guy that is super obsessed with a ring, then this movie is just for you!

7. SAW
SAW1,2,3 is a brilliant movie and creeps itself to no. 7 in my list.

Never got so high up in hollywod as expected and I didn't even bothered watching it till my friends insisted I did.

Being an expert in movies of this genre, I can always guess Hollywood endingd (yawn).

And surprisingly, being a smart-ass who could guess the ending........

I never ever got to guess this ending!

It is seriously brilliant in terms that the director can think so simple yet make it so complicated.

Twisted, Dark and i think no one has categorized a movie in this word : SMART.

6. Nang Nak

I don't think much people have watched this movie yet because it probaly promoted itself through word of mouth. This movie is a true Thailand story on a devoted wife who waited for his husbnad to return to war till she died in child birth.

Loving his husband way too much, she stayed on after death to take care of him till he finally realized she was dead.

Drama happens (interesting part) and of course, it ends with a romantic yet sad ending.

But hey, what can you say... "The husband and the ghost wife lived happily ever after"? :s

Based on a true story, it touched my heart and of course, one thing i'm sure, Thailand produces hell of good horror movies!

5. Shutter
This is again a horror movie and of my days of watching horror movies from "Child's play" to "IT", I really did missed a nice horror movie when I grew up.

I missed hiding behind the pillow and screaming and feeling my heart beat so fast..

Sadly, movies now disappoint me.. I was "Oh god.. dont tell me she's gonna come out of the tv? B-O-R-I-N-G.... yawn yawn"

And till this movie came out..

This movie had the cinema screaming and had me laughing (seeing that I too screamed along)

And it had my best mate Donovan swearing every time a scene surprised him!

Scary (for once ..finally a horror movie that meets my expectation), twisted story and of course, every horror scene is purely new, creative and hell.. FREAKY!

4. Jurrasic Park

Okay, this is to tell you I don't watch horror movie all the way, k :p

Jurrasic Park 1,2,3,4 comes to my favourite no. 4 because, well, I love dinosaurs!!

Really cool dinosaurs (seeing their technology back then) and very realistic (unlike the ones I see now.. all just too 'computer-rie')

And of course, when you offer something so new, it doesn't just WOW me.. it WOWs the world :)

3. HERO

If you like literature and LOTR, this movie is just right for you.

Its about honour, pride and glory.

Just imagine, sparta.. just in chinese style and well, this guy fights with his brains and brawn..

And if you were wondering why LOTR all of the sudden?.. well, their fighting techniques are awesome no doubt but their scenes were shot in beautiful places (like LOTR) that will leave you mesmerize till the fact you will go "Oh god.. concentrate ont he movie!!.ARGH"

A movie for those who like seeing hot Asian chicks and people clashing their swords..

And of course a glimpse on China's forbidden city :)

2. The Pianist
We reached no.2 and if you guys havent watched this movie, you should!!

A movie of a pianist who was in those Nazi times (he was Jewish), and he struggled to survive those times.

From managing through rotten food, and seeing his whole family smoked to death, he strive on to survive till the very end..

Till a pistol was aimed to him by a Nazi lieutenant which..

Was so mesmerized by his piano skills that he let him live

And what made me like this story so much?

Of course would be the BEAUTIFUL piano notes played,

Excellent performance by Adrien Brody

And most of all,

It is a TRUE story.

Prepare a tissue box to be touched.

Not for a sad ending, but an ending that is so beautiful that it makes you speechless for expression.

1. Spirited Away

And coming up at no.1 is my all time favourite.. "SPIRITED AWAY"..

Beautiful graphics,

Beautiful storyline,

And their creativeness knows no boundaries.

So many details all in details and I would seriously recommend it to anyone and everyone in the world.

This is a story of a girl who accidentally crossed over to the spirit world in search of her parents which was in turn, transformed into pigs by the evil leader. As she was stuck in the spirit world, she meets odd (REALLY ODD) people which teaches her the way of living in that world.

She still tries to find her parents and on the way, meets up with the leader's loyal servant, a boy-dragon which helps her despite knowing it was against the rule.

And as everything turns complicated, a beautiful storyline emerges and you wouldn't even care how complicated it gets as it gets so interesting!

One word to describe this movie: Magnificent and hey, this movie deserved a two thumbs up.
